Early American History Pack
Make history fun with these great crafts from the colonial days of America.
This craft pack is a fun way to use hands-on learning to experience Early American ways of life.
The pack also includes an "Educational Opportunities" Sheet with facts and extra activity ideas to extend the learning experience.

The Early American History Pack includes the following crafts:
Write a lesson on a piece of paper, cover it with "horn" and attach it to the wooden
paddle. Hang it around your neck with a piece of lacing, and wear your lessons like a
colonial era student.
Make a model of a the wooden forts built by early settlers to protect their
settlements from attack.
Create a hat made popular during the Colonial and Revolutionary Eras.
Use a pin to punch holes in a decorative pattern in the metal foil, then fold it
into a lantern.
- Beeswax Candle and Candleholder:
Roll your own candle with wicking and a beeswax sheet. Decorate a wooden candle
holder, then insert your candle and light it (with adult supervision).
Weave a small mat using a loom and yarn, just like Early American women and girls did.
Decorate a styrofoam form with sequins and pipecleaners to create a model of the
colonial symbol of hospitality.
Create a real quill pen from a feather, then use it to write your own "proclamation" on a
scroll that you make.
- Metal Tooled Liberty Bell:
Use the metal foil piece and mold to create a model of the Liberty Bell.
Use colorful patterned squares and triangles to design your own quilt square.
